Cost Breakdowns

The cost breakdown report helps you see how much it costs to operate at a client.

Cost Breakdown Report

Given a date range, this report calculates direct and overhead labor costs.

Labor Costs

Labor costs are calculated using the following method.

  1. Find all timekeeping activity in the date range.
  2. Apply employee labor rates including workers compensation and payroll tax.
  3. Aggregate costs to the client.

With this data, you can then see how much it costs in direct labor costs to keep a client.

Overhead Labor Costs

Additionally, Janit calculates overhead labor costs using the following method

  1. Find all paid time spent by supervisors and administrative staff. This includes drive time and administrative work at your offices.
  2. Calculate the total cost of the above time, including workers compensation and payroll tax.
  3. Using that total amount, proportionately assign the costs to each client as a portion of direct labor costs associated with the client. Clients where you spend more time directly will be associated with higher overhead costs.
